Jerusalem, 14 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Akamai Technologies, an American cloud security and content delivery company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm LayerX. The $205 million agreement is part of Akamai’s strategy to strengthen its Zero Trust security portfolio with AI usage control capabilities.

LayerX specializes in browser-based enterprise security and AI usage control, extending protection into the browser where employees increasingly use generative AI tools, SaaS applications, and AI agents.

Akamai said LayerX will help improve oversight of employee interactions with AI systems and data sharing activities. The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 . LayerX’s team will join Akamai’s Zero Trust organization following completion of the deal.
