Jerusalem, 9 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Prof. Eldar Haber of the University of Haifa has won a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant to study how artificial intelligence is reshaping the criminal justice system.

The five-year project, RecodingJustice, will explore AI’s influence on crime prediction, Investigation, prosecution, sentencing and Rehabilitation across four countries.

Haber, an associate professor at the university’s Faculty of Law and head of its Center for Law and Technology, said the two-million-euro grant will help develop tools to ensure AI technologies are used responsibly and fairly while safeguarding fundamental rights.
