Animal Description: A stray, medium-large light brown mixed-breed dog infected with rabies in Beit Hillel, Upper Galilee.
Dates: October 31, 2025, to November 14, 2025, inclusive
Details: Five people who were exposed to the dog were referred for preventive rabies treatment.

Guidelines:
Anyone who had contact, or whose pets had contact, with the infected animal or any stray animals in the area between October 31, 2025, and November 14, 2025, inclusive, should urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau at 04-6994257, 04-6994200, or their local health bureau to consider preventive treatment.
Outside of office hours and during weekends, contact the hospital emergency ward.

The Ministry of Health requests:

  • Parents—check with their children to see if they had contact with any suspected animals and contact the health bureau immediately.
  • Pet owners—contact their licensed veterinarian to verify their pets’ vaccination status.
  • Share this information with hikers and visitors in the area and nearby communities.

The Ministry of Health also reminds anyone bitten or scratched by an animal to immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect it, and visit the health bureau to determine if preventive rabies treatment is needed.
