Jerusalem, 16 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Southern District Committee decided to approve for submission a relocation-construction plan that includes 216 new housing units, commercial spaces, public buildings and open spaces in the city of Eilat to be constructed in a 7 and 10-story building and a 25-story residential tower, around an open public space.

The plan includes residential, commercial, public buildings and institutions, and open public space and the 216 units will replace the existing 75 apartments in the area.

“The plan provides the best solution for the complex located in the heart of the Yaelim neighborhood in Eilat, which is characterized by old, dense, and outdated construction that does not meet the safety and quality requirements of a contemporary residential space,” said the Government Authority for Urban Renewal.

“The planning principles emphasize a response tailored to local climate conditions, natural shading, improving the pedestrian network, strengthening public space, and creating a vital and continuous urban fabric” it added.
