Jerusalem, 20 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police arrested a man suspected of defrauding people out of hundreds of thousands of allegedly shekels by selling fictitious airline tickets.
In recent weeks, the police received dozens of complaints from various citizens from all over the country regarding the purchase of plane tickets to New York for the Jewish holidays, which they made through an Afula resident (41), but did not receive their money back.
In some cases, said the police, passengers were stuck in Athens at a connection and discovered that the onward ticket was fake, in other cases they discovered at the airport that there was no ticket in their name, and in other cases they were stuck in New York without a return flight to Israel.
