Breaking News

Jerusalem, 16 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen will soon submit a draft resolution for government approval, which would allocate water to five river basins across the country. The five basins are: the Hula Basin, the Kishon Basin in the Jezreel Valley, the Carmel Beach and the Difla Marsh, the Southern Jordan Valley and the Valley of the Springs, and the Yarkon River in central Israel.

The goal of the move is to restore the flow in streams affected by the drought in the north of the country, in order to ensure the preservation of our country’s landscapes, encourage biodiversity, and restore ecosystems.

Stream restoration is not only an environmental process, but also a social, ecological, economic and touristic process, which restores natural spaces, landscapes, recreation and living water to the public, and strengthens the resilience of the water sector in Israel. The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure will continue to promote implementation on the ground in the coming years, while engaging the public and local communities, for the benefit of restoring water sources and nature in Israel.
