Breaking News

Jerusalem, 22 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Education Ministry published a draft amendment to the Israel Prize regulations on Monday, stating that individuals who act independently against the Israeli state, its institutions, or soldiers — such as through petitions or international legal efforts — will no longer be eligible for the prize. The restriction would not apply to those who have ceased such activities or expressed regret.

Education Minister Yoav Kisch also announced two new awards: one for Diaspora Jews contributing to Jewish resilience and ties with Israel, and another for Israelis under 50 whose work has driven significant social change.

The Israel Prize is the country’s highest civilian honor, awarded annually for exceptional contributions to Israeli society in fields such as science, arts, humanities, and public service.

Public comment on the draft is now open.
