Israel Moves Forward with 4th Ayalon Area Rail Line

Israel pushes forward with the 4th Ayalon Area Rail Line, breaking through transportation bottlenecks for faster, more efficient travel across the country.

Jerusalem, 1 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Transportation is promoting the runoff management plan in the Ayalon Basin – the area between the coastal plain and Jerusalem – part of the “Connecting Israel” vision, which the Ministry described as a key step in completing the conditions for operating the fourth train line, and opening the rail “bottleneck” that limits the development of the national rail network.

The fourth track on the Ayalon is one of the most important transportation projects in the country. It will allow for the first time full operation of the national railway network, increased frequencies on all lines, a significant reduction in travel times, and a fast and efficient connection between the north, center, and south. To enable the expansion of the corridor and the narrowing of the Ayalon Canal, it was determined in Sub-Land 33 that a system for regulating, collecting, and introducing runoff upstream of the streams must be completed, in a way that will ensure the stability and safety of the entire system.

Minister of Transportation Regev: “This is a national project that will open the central bottleneck in the railway network and allow for higher frequency, shorter travel times and good connectivity to all parts of the country.”
