Jerusalem, 11 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An IDF (Israel Defense Forces) military court today, Monday, convicted Nademi Abu-Bakr of the offense of intentional killing (the equivalent of the murder offense in the civilian system) for the killing of First Sergeant Amit Ben-Yigal, on May 12, 2020, during an operational activity in the village of Yaabad, located near Jenin. In addition, the defendant was convicted of obstruction of justice.

According to the indictment filed by the military prosecution, the terrorist threw half a brick weighing nine to eleven kilograms from the roof of a building toward IDF soldiers. The brick thrown by the terrorist struck Ben-Yigal, and caused his death. At that point, the terrorist fled from the building’s roof to his apartment and pretended to be asleep with the intention of thwarting the security forces in locating him. Later, the terrorist approached the location from which he had thrown the brick, collected its fragments, and threw them into the vegetation along the edge of the path.
