Israel Warns Residents of Beirut’s Dahiyeh District to Evacuate

The IDF issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents in Beirut's Dahiyeh district, a Hezbollah stronghold, instructing them to move east or north.

Jerusalem, 5 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents of several neighborhoods in Beirut’s southern suburbs, an area known as the Dahiyeh and considered a stronghold of the Hezbollah terror group, Ahead of planned strikes.

In a message posted on X by Lt. Col. Ella Waweya, the IDF’s chief Arabic spokesperson, residents of Bourj el-Barajneh and Hadath were instructed to head east toward Mount Lebanon along the Beirut–Damascus road. Those in Haret Hreik and Shiyyah were told to move north toward Tripoli via the Beirut–Tripoli road or east toward Mount Lebanon using the Metn Expressway.

“Save your lives and evacuate your homes immediately,” the warning said, adding that traveling south is prohibited because it could place civilians in danger. The army said residents would be notified when it is safe to return.
