The murder of the deceased Yasser Abu Al-Hija has been solved – the suspects planned to murder their relative while he was getting a haircut, but accidentally also hit the barber.
Israel Police arrest suspects in barber shop murder plot; 17-year-old allegedly shot uncle, 19-year-old cousin assisted.
Two victims were evacuated from the scene – Yasser Abu Al-Hija, a 34-year-old resident of Tamra (the barber), whose death was later determined, and another victim, 39 years old (the client), who was evacuated in serious condition. The investigation was transferred to the Northern District’s Central Unit. From the investigation materials, it emerged that the killer arrived at the barbershop equipped with a handgun on an electric bicycle, and upon arrival, he shot the two victims. During the investigation, the Central Unit explored several leads that initially focused on the two shooting victims, but after several days, the investigators focused on a violent family dispute related to the client who was seriously injured. Subsequently, the investigators managed to locate the hiding place of the bicycle used by the killer and seize the helmet and clothes the killer wore on the day of the incident, after they were concealed inside a container. On 26/07/19, as the investigation became public, several suspects were arrested, including the two defendants – the first defendant, aged 17, who according to the investigation materials, carried out the fatal shooting of his uncle, and another defendant, aged 19 – the cousin of the minor defendant and nephew of the target of the assassination, who according to the investigation materials, conducted preliminary patrols before the murder and assisted in the killer’s escape from the area. As part of various investigative actions, the Central Unit investigators uncovered a picture on the minor defendant’s mobile phone, where he appeared to be photographed with two handguns. This morning, with the completion of the investigation phase, the Haifa District Prosecution will file an indictment along with a request for the detention of the two until the proceedings are concluded, at the Haifa District Court.
