Jerusalem, 9 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli government launched an initiative to connect public shelters to fixed internet infrastructure, expanding an existing emergency equipment program. The move includes an additional NIS 1 million, supplementing a NIS 10 million budget, to ensure continuous access to communication during emergencies.
Officials from the Ministries of Communications and the Negev and Galilee, together with the National Emergency Authority, said reliable connectivity in shelters is now considered life-saving, enabling access to real-time instructions, news updates, and contact with family. Local authorities will map shelters and deploy infrastructure accordingly.
