Jerusalem, 19 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yesterday (Wednesday), with what the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) described as “precise real-time intelligence guidance”, an Israel Air Force aircraft identified and attacked an MI-17 helicopter at the Sanandaj airport in Hamadan, located in western Iran.
The MI-17 is a Soviet-designed Russian military transport/cargo helicopter.
The IDF said this strike was part of its continuing efforts to “deepen the damage to the military capabilities of the Air Force in the Revolutionary Guards and expand air superiority in western Iran.”
