Description: The Ministry of Health reports a rabid jackal in an agricultural area between Horeshet Tal and She’ar Yashuv in the upper galilee. So far, no people are known to have been exposed. The report of the rabid jackal was received today, January 8, 2026.
Dates: December 10, 2025, to December 24, 2025, inclusive

Instructions:
Anyone who was in contact with the animal or whose animals came into contact with it in the specified area and dates should urgently contact the Zefat Health Bureau at 04-6994257 or 04-6994200, or the nearest health bureau, to assess the need for preventive treatment.
After hours and on weekends, contact the hospital emergency room.
Please share this information with visitors and residents in the area and nearby communities.

Pet owners should contact the local or Eastern Galilee cluster veterinarian (*8451) to verify vaccination status.

Parents should check with their children if they were in contact with any suspicious animals and urgently contact the health bureau.

The Ministry of Health reminds anyone bitten or scratched by an animal to immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect it, and visit the health bureau to determine if preventive rabies treatment is needed.
