Rabid fox found in Upper Galilee farm

Description: The Ministry of Health reports a jackal infected with rabies in an agricultural area between Tal Grove and the community of Shar Yashuv in the upper galilee. As of now, no people are known to have been exposed to the jackal. The notification about the infected jackal was received today, January 8, 2026. 
Dates: 12.10.2025 to 12.24.2025 inclusive

Instructions:
We request that anyone who was in contact, or whose animals were in contact in the incident area with the infected animal or a stray animal, on the dates specified above, urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau, telephone 04-6994257, 04-6994200, or the health bureau closest to their residence, to consider the need for preventive treatment for them.
After working hours and during the weekend, please go to the emergency room at a hospital.
We request that information about the incident be passed on to travelers and vacationers in the area and in nearby communities.

Pet owners are requested to contact the local veterinarian/Eastern Galilee Cluster (*8451), to verify their vaccination status.

Parents of children are requested to check with their children if they have been in contact with suspected animals and to contact the health bureau urgently.

The Ministry of Health reminds again anyone bitten or scratched by an animal to immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect with antiseptic agents, and go to the health bureau to check if preventive treatment against rabies is necessary.
