The Inspector General, Commissioner Danny Levi, held a situation assessment in the field, and the Commander of the Central District, Superintendent Amir Cohen, assigned the investigation to the Central District Special Investigations Unit, which managed the investigation together with the Shin Bet. In parallel, intelligence operations led to the identification of the murderer, a minor residing in the Central District. Yamam fighters operated in the West Bank and arrested several suspects involved. The investigation’s findings indicated that there was prior acquaintance between the murder suspect and the victims, a fact that strengthened the suspicion that the motive was criminal. It also emerged that after committing the murder, the suspect acted to conceal his involvement, including attempting to hide the weapon allegedly used to commit the murder. Investigators located the weapon used in the murder, and during a reenactment, the suspect indicated his route and the stages of committing the offenses. The investigation also revealed that two residents of the territories, against whom indictments will be filed for shooting offenses and illegal entry into Israel, had access to the weapon used in the murder.
