Jerusalem, 11 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Netanyahu participated today, Thursday, in an event held in honor of the new immigrants from the Bnei Menashe community who recently came to Israel. Bnei Menashe are Jews from northern India.
Since the beginning of the year, about 600 new immigrants from the Bnei Menashe community from northern India have immigrated to Israel, and about 600 more are expected to immigrate by the end of 2026. Their immigration is taking place as part of a government decision, which was approved following a proposal by the Minister of Immigration and Absorption, to immigrate all of the Bnei Menashe, numbering about 6,000 people from northern India, within about five years.
Prime Minister Netanyahu: “After years of strengthening the relationship between Israel and India, thanks to the warm relationship with > 🇮🇱🇦🇷”>my friend Narendra Modi, I am excited to see the Bnei Menashe return home. We are going to raise the entire community in the next four years. You are an inseparable part of the people of Israel, and Israel is your home. I wish you a successful absorption and great success in the Galilee and the landscape of the Galilee. Welcome back home to the State of Israel.”
