Israel Allocates $12.5 Million to Farmers Hit by Roar of the Lion Operation

Israel's Agriculture Ministry is allocating $12.5 million to compensate farmers for indirect losses during Operation Roar of the Lion.

Politics

Israel’s Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has announced a 45 million shekel ($12.5 million) assistance program for farms that sustained indirect losses during Operation Roar of the Lion.

The plan aims to compensate farmers for operational revenue gaps caused by the military operation, after the agricultural sector was excluded from the broader economic relief law enacted for the operation.

Damage reported during the fighting included poultry coops, greenhouses, orchards, packing houses, and supply chain disruptions.

“Farmers working in the field every day are an inseparable part of Israel’s resilience and form the foundation of national food security,” said Agriculture Ministry Director-General Oren Lavie. “We are committed to providing them with the economic and operational backing that will allow them to continue producing and supplying fresh, quality agricultural produce to Israeli citizens.”

Eligible farmers may apply under the newly published support procedure.
