Jerusalem, 9 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli reservists averaged 94 days of service in 2024 and 78 days in 2025, according to statistics released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday.
Israel marked Reservists Appreciation Day on Monday as new IDF statistics highlighted the burden borne by reserve soldiers since the war began following Hamas’s October 7, 2023 Attack on southern Israel.
Approximately 37% of reservists have children at home.
According to the military, the IDF reserve force has expanded by tens of thousands since Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack, as the military reinforced existing units and established new ones to meet wartime demands in combat, intelligence, logistics, medicine and Home Front Command operations.
Tel Aviv-Jaffa has the largest reserve population, with roughly 42,000 reservists, followed by Jerusalem with around 23,000.
The IDF added that said additional call-ups were issued over the past 24 hours in response to Iranian missile attacks on Sunday night and Monday.
