The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, held a situation assessment and approved plans for the continuation of the fighting in the Northern Command today (Sunday) with the General Staff Forum.

Subsequently, the Chief of Staff visited the headquarters of the 401st Brigade, met with the acting commander of the 401st Brigade, Colonel (Res.) H’, and spoke with the brigade’s commanders and soldiers. The Chief of Staff expressed his appreciation to the commanders and soldiers. The Chief of Staff sent wishes for recovery and a speedy return to the central command echelon in the IDF to the brigade commander, Colonel Meir Biderman, who was injured in an incident in southern Lebanon last week.

The Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, said: “The IDF continues to monitor regional developments, prepared to return to intense combat immediately and to weaken the Iranian terror regime and its capabilities more deeply. We will maintain readiness and flexibility for action as long as required. In the Northern Command, we continue to attack Hezbollah in all dimensions. I emphasize – the security of the residents and the security of our forces are above all else. Wherever you operated, you left a wounded and defeated enemy fighting for its life.”
“There is no power in the world that compares to the heroism of our fighters; the spirit of command from the front leads them. As the previous commander of the 401st Brigade, Colonel Ahsan Deksa, may he rest in peace, proved, and now, Colonel Meir Biderman, who was seriously injured last week while commanding the brigade’s forces from the front. The 401st Brigade is a brigade with strong people and great spirit. It is a brigade with a distant and recent history, which has never been broken.”

“Today I approved plans for the continuation of the campaign in the north; we are determined to deepen the damage to Hezbollah, across all its systems. I have full confidence in you. You are operating with strength on the front lines of combat. Our mission is clear – to thwart any enemy, to destroy terror infrastructure, and to serve as a forward defense line for the northern settlements. We are working to ensure and strengthen the security of the northern residents. The damage to Hezbollah is systematic and consistent – we will not let up. We continue to eliminate Hezbollah terrorists and their infrastructure, who threaten the residents of the north and our forces.”
