Last week (Tuesday), during an engagement by IDF forces in the Kaouza area of southern Lebanon, a terrorist opened fire from the vicinity of a church towards a force from the 401st Brigade. As a result of the gunfire, Major (Res.) Itamar Sapir, may he rest in peace, fell.
Immediately after the incident, the brigade’s fighters, under the command of the 146th Division, returned fire and acted to eliminate the terrorist.
It can now be confirmed that the terrorist who killed Major (Res.) Itamar Sapir was eliminated by tank fire and a targeted strike by the Air Force, after he was identified entering a structure in the church area.
As part of the fire envelope during the incident, the IDF attacked observation posts, an arms depot, and structures used by Hezbollah to advance terror routes from the air and ground.
