Jerusalem, 30 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — In the past month, Ministry of Agriculture inspectors have prevented the marketing and distribution of over 150,000 eggs that are not inspected and may pose a real danger to public health. This included one attempt to market approximately 64,000 eggs with fake Passover kosher seals.

The suspected goal was to mislead the consumer public and distribute them among the city’s ultra-Orthodox community in preparation for Passover. Given the real danger of consuming these eggs, which were transported without refrigeration and sealed with fake seals, professional officials ordered the immediate destruction of the produce. Criminal proceedings were opened against the truck driver and those involved.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security warned people to be careful and purchase eggs and other animal and plant products only in regulated places.
