Jerusalem, 18 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s government approved a decision to authorize the Israel Natural Gas Company to deploy natural gas infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. Natural gas reduces energy costs for industry and businesses, contributes to economic growth and job creation, and improves air quality, explained the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
The move is intended to enable the continued promotion and development of natural gas infrastructure, alongside adapting the company’s activities to the evolving needs of the energy sector in Israel.
as part of the proposal, the company’s objectives will be amended so that its powers to operate are also expanded in areas where specific legislation in the field of natural gas is currently being formulated, including in the Judea and Samaria region.
The National Natural Gas Transmission Company (NGTC), the national natural gas transmission company, has been operating since 2003 in the field of planning, construction and operation of the natural gas transmission system in Israel. In recent years, its areas of activity have also been expanded to include hydrogen and carbon dioxide removal, and its transmission license was recently extended until 2049. In addition, the company recently received a license to establish and operate a natural gas distribution network in the Jerusalem area.
