Jerusalem, 17 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Consumer Price Index increased by 1.2% in April 2026, compared to March 2026, reaching an index level of 105.1 points (base: average 2024 = 100.0 points). This is according to the data released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.
The Consumer Price Index excluding housing increased by 1.6%, reaching an index level of 104.5 points, the Consumer Price Index excluding vegetables and fruits increased by 1.1%, reaching a level of 105.0 points, and the Consumer Price Index excluding energy increased by 0.9%, also reaching a level of 105.0 points.
Notable price increases were recorded in the following categories: fresh fruit, which rose by 7.8%, transportation, which rose by 4.9%, culture and entertainment, which rose by 3.4%, clothing and footwear, which rose by 2.4%, and home maintenance, which rose by 0.5%.
Price decreases were recorded in the health section, which fell by 0.1%.
Since the beginning of the year, the consumer price index has increased by 1.4%, the consumer price index excluding housing has increased by 1.7%, the consumer price index excluding vegetables and fruits has increased by 1.3%, and the consumer price index excluding energy has increased by 1.2%.
In the last twelve months (April 2026 compared to April 2025), the CPI increased by 1.9%. The CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and the CPI excluding energy increased by 1.7% each and the CPI excluding housing increased by 1.5%.
In April 2026, the seasonally adjusted CPI increased by 0.6%, the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding housing and the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and excluding housing increased by 0.7%, each. According to the trend data, for the period from January 2026 to April 2026, the annual rate of increase of the CPI reached 2.3%, the annual rate of increase of the CPI excluding housing reached 1.8%, and the annual rate of increase of the CPI excluding vegetables and fruits and excluding housing reached 0.9%.
