Police Seize Nearly Two Million Shekels in Cash, Uncover Illegal Beverage Factory in Tira

Israeli police in Tira confiscated over 1.8 million Shekels and shut down an unlicensed beverage factory during an operation targeting financial crimes.

Jerusalem, 20 August, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police carried out in Tira, an Arab town in central Israel, what it called a large-scale operation against local businesses suspected of financial crimes and funding criminal elements.

During raids on several targets, police seized more than 1.8 million Shekels ($530,000) in cash, along with foreign currency valued at tens of thousands of Shekels. Officers also uncovered severe safety violations, bookkeeping deficiencies, and suspected violations of the Cash Use Reduction Law. Stop-work orders were issued for two businesses.

The Health Ministry’s Food Service uncovered a factory operating without a manufacturing license, storing and marketing carbonated beverages from an unknown source under unsanitary conditions. Seizure orders were issued, and the owner was summoned to a hearing ahead of the merchandise’s destruction and the business’s closure.

Three illegal residents from Judea and Samaria were found working and housed on-site. Indictments were filed against the owner and the three residents.
