Northern District police officers arrested an armed man who tried to escape while hitting a police car – an M16 weapon was seized. Yesterday evening, during an operation by Northern District police officers on Route 77, near the Beit Rimmon interchange, forces signaled a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old resident of Rahat to stop for inspection. As they attempted to arrest the vehicle, the suspect began to flee. After a pursuit of several kilometers, which included precise shooting by the officers at the tires of the fleeing vehicle, the suspect was arrested by the forces after hitting a police car. After it was identified that during his escape a bag was thrown from the vehicle, the officers reached the bag and discovered various weapons inside, including a disassembled M16 weapon and additional findings that were located in his car. The suspect was transferred for investigation, and this morning the police are expected to request an extension of his detention.
