Man Indicted for Threating Senior Israeli Political Figure

A 64-year-old Ramla man, Yitzhak Parzon, faces charges for inciting violence against Israeli politician Yair Golan on Facebook during the Gaza war.

Jerusalem, 28 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The State Attorney’s Office filed an indictment with the Ramla Magistrate’s Court against a Ramla resident. Yitzhak Parzon (64), for inciting violence against Democratic Party Chairman Yair Golan. The indictment was filed with the approval of the Legal Advisor to the Government and the State Attorney.

The indictment indicates that about a year ago, during the “Iron Swords” war in Gaza, against the backdrop of an interview published in the media in which Golan spoke out against government policy, Farzon shared a post on Facebook, which read: “Hamas leadership calls on children to die as martyrs – while they live in luxury hotels! My response on the BBC – you won’t believe what I told them!”

To this sharing, Farzon added his own caption on his Facebook account, which had 5,000 members linked to it and whose content was also open and accessible to the public at large: “Yair Golan is a Hamasnik and a Hamasnik needs a bullet in the head.”

The Democratic Party was formed out of a merger between Israel’s once longtime ruling Labor Party and the left-wing Meretz Party.
