Jerusalem, 6 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli authorities arrested four people suspected of stealing thousands of cartons of smuggled cigarettes from a customs-supervised warehouse in Ashdod’s Israel Ports Park, the Israel Tax Authority said.

A probe by the Israeli Police and customs inspectors found that over 2,000 cartons worth an estimated NIS 26 million ($8.6 million) were stolen in June with the assistance of a warehouse employee. The cigarettes had been seized in a prior case and stored for destruction.
