Israel Police to Establish Team to Deal with Violence at Soccer Matches
Israel Police is creating a special team to tackle soccer stadium violence, aiming to improve fan relations and prevent incidents.
Jerusalem, 7 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police reported that, Following the recent incidents of violence in Israel’s sports stadiums during matches, it was decided to establish a team led by a deputy police commissioner who will maintain contact with soccer fans to improve police work, reach understandings, and prevent tensions with soccer fans.
The team will engage in advance outreach, hold meetings and direct dialogue with fans, strengthen ties with team managements, and create prevention and dialogue mechanisms with the aim of reducing incidents of violence and ensuring a safe sports experience for the general public.
It will be headed by a police officer in the rank of Deputy Commissioner, who will coordinate the activities and lead the headquarters work with all relevant parties.
