Upon receiving the report, the station’s investigators immediately opened an investigation, during which the baby’s parents were arrested on suspicion of involvement in causing the injuries. Two days later, the baby’s death was pronounced at the hospital. A special investigation team established at the Dimona station, under the guidance of Rotem District Commander Superintendent Shai Shlomo, conducted a complex investigation, which included collecting findings and evidence, alongside taking testimonies, which led to the formation of an evidentiary basis against the baby’s father. The suspect’s (Dimona, 30) arrest was extended from time to time, and at the conclusion of the investigation, a statement of prosecution was filed by the Southern District Attorney’s Office regarding the intention to file an indictment against him and a request for detention until the end of proceedings.
