Beersheba police find dozens of animals in harsh conditions

Suspect detained for investigation
Police officers from the Beer Sheva station were called last week to an incident that began following a report of a neighbor dispute in the city. Upon the officers’ arrival at the scene and during the investigation of the circumstances of the incident, a suspicion arose that animals were being kept in one of the houses under harsh conditions that raised serious concern for their safety and welfare. The officers entered the premises, and during an initial inspection, they observed dozens of animals being kept in poor conditions, some in a health condition that required treatment and examination by professional parties. The officers summoned the municipal veterinary service to the scene and acted to secure the animals and the scene until the authorized parties arrived. After the veterinarian’s examination, a suspicion arose of offenses under the Animal Cruelty Law. During the operation, dozens of animals were rescued from the location, including adult cats and kittens, dogs, a turtle, a crow, mice, and tarantulas, which were allegedly kept under harsh conditions and in violation of the law and regulations. The animals were transferred for further treatment and examination by the authorized parties. The suspect, a resident of Beer Sheva in her 30s, was detained for investigation at the Beer Sheva station.
