Israel to Increase Competition for Electricity Services by Allowing for New Suppliers
Jerusalem, 30 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The next stage in Israel’s electricity reform is underway as its Electricity Authority is increasing the competition in supply and is opening the first competitive tender for new suppliers.
More than 300,000 Israeli households are already benefiting from the reform in the electricity sector and the possibility of switching to a private supplier and receiving discounts on their electricity bills. The Authority has now decided to expand competition through a first-of-its-kind tender process.
The tender will allow private suppliers to buy power from the system operator in a total volume of approximately 500 megawatts. The decision will increase the supply of electricity to suppliers, increase certainty for suppliers in the competition, and enable the transition of more business consumers and households as early as early February 2026. Another process is expected in the summer.
