Jerusalem, 17 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) continues to locate and eliminate the forces of the Iranian Basij domestic security unit: in the past 24 hours, the unit’s commander was eliminated and More than 10 different of its positions were attacked in the heart of Tehran.

Over the past few weeks, the IDF said it has “systematically operated against the unit’s command centers”, and later identified a shift of forces to operating from alternative headquarters – which were also attacked. After the repeated attacks, a redeployment of Basij forces was identified, deployed and operating from positions in public spaces in the heart of Tehran.

Following the identification, the Israel Air Force in recent hours attacked Basij soldiers operating from more than 10 different positions throughout Tehran.

Among the assaults was a targeted attack on an emergency position of the Basij and the Revolutionary Guards that had previously served as a football club, which “illustrates the depth of the damage to its infrastructure and the regime’s method of operation – the deliberate and cynical use of the civilian population as a shield for the activity of the terrorist regime.”

The recent attacks, along with the assassination of the unit’s commander, Gholam Reza Soleimani, are causing deep and lasting damage to the capabilities of the Basij unit, asserted the IDF.

“In addition to being part of the regime’s armed forces, the Basij forces have been responsible for years for the execution of terrorist plots, while at the same time leading the violent repression mechanisms against Iranian citizens in internal protests,” it said.
