Jerusalem, 1 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Population and Immigration Authority reported that a total of 290,975 were abroad when the conflict with Iran began on Saturday and who are now unable to return to the country. Israel’s airports are closed and so these people will not be able to return home for the time being.
According to the Authority, 172,377 Israelis went abroad for trips intended to last up to 30 days, 77,386 Israelis went abroad for trips intended to last between 31 and 60 days and 41,212 departed for trips intended to last up to 90 days.
However, no data was provided as to how long before the fighting began such people left the country.
As for foreign citizens in Israel at the time the airports were closed on Saturday, 33,433 entered Israel as tourists in the last three months and have not yet left.
