High Levels of Air Pollution Measured Across Central and Southern Israel Due to Dust Transport

Dust storm causes high air pollution across central and southern Israel. Sensitive populations advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity.

Public

The high air pollution is caused by southwesterly winds that are carrying dust from North Africa to our region.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health recommend that sensitive populations, including people with heart disease, people with lung disease, older adults, children, and pregnant women, avoid strenuous outdoor physical activity. The general population is advised to reduce strenuous outdoor physical activity.

Air quality is expected to improve slowly and gradually during Tuesday (10.2). The Ministry will continue to update the public as needed based on forecast data and measurements from monitoring stations across the country.

You can follow the monitoring stations on the website and in the app “Air in the Environment by the Ministry of Environmental Protection”.
