Ofir Levy Appointed Deputy National Security Council Chairman

Ofir Levy appointed Deputy National Security Council Chairman, succeeding Gil Reich, with extensive military and security background.

Jerusalem, 5 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The government approved Prime Minister Netanyahu’s decision, made upon the recommendation of National Security Council Chairman Ben Ezra, to appoint Ofir Levy to the position of Deputy National Security Council Chairman.

Levy will take up the position in place of Gil Reich, who has completed his term.

The appointment is for 5 years, and may be extended for additional periods, provided that the appointment period does not exceed ten years in total.

Col. (res.) Ofir Levy has an extensive military and security background, which includes a number of senior positions, including: Head of Armored Corps Doctrine, Commander of the 679th Reserve Brigade, and Deputy Commander of the 210th Golan Heights Regional Division. He also served as a consultant in the field of border protection for Rafael.

Levy holds a bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, with a focus on organizational consulting, from Ariel University and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Haifa.
