Netanel Cohen Appointed Head of National Digital Directorate
Brigadier General (Res.) Netanel Cohen was appointed head of Israel's National Digital Directorate today, April 26, by the cabinet.
Jerusalem, 26 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s cabinet unanimously approved the decision to appoint Brigadier General (Res.) Netanel (Nati) Cohen to the position of head of the National Digital Directorate, under Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat.
The Prime Minister and the ministers congratulated Cohen on the appointment and wished him success in this important role. Mr. Cohen took office as head of the department today, Sunday April 26.
Mr. Cohen holds a BA in Political Science and Middle East Studies and a MA in Security Studies from the POM College. Cohen has held a number of senior positions in the public service, including: Director General of the Ministry of Communications and Chief Liaison and ICT Officer in the IDF. In addition, Cohen also served as the Liaison Officer of the Northern Command, Chief of the AGM at the ICT Division Headquarters, and Chief of Planning in the ICT Division. Within the framework of his various positions, Cohen worked to promote digital transformation and the establishment of critical cyber infrastructure systems.
The appointment was recommended by the Appointments Committee headed by the Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, Moti Hagay, after the committee reviewed Mr. Cohen’s appointments to the position last Thursday and decided to recommend to the government to appoint him.
