The US Embassy in Jerusalem will provide passport services in Efrat, a first for areas outside pre-1967 borders, on February 27.

Jerusalem, 24 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The US Embassy in Jerusalem announced that, as part of its “Freedom 250 Initiative” for the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, and the Embassy’s “efforts to reach all Americans,” Consular Officers will provide “routine” passport services in Efrat – located in Gush Etzion south of Jerusalem – this Friday, February 27, for one day only.

This is significant in that Efrat is located outside of Israel’s pre-1967 borders and US governments have never before made consular services available in such areas.

The Embassy said it will, on later dates, offer such services in Beitar Eilat, which is also beyond Israel’s pre-1967 borders as well as in the Israeli cities of Haifa, Netanya and Beit Shemesh.
