Jerusalem, 5 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, spoke at the Beaufort Ridge in Lebanon on Sunday where he declared that the area is a “dominant terrain saturated with Terror Infrastructure.”
Zamir also said that Hezbollah built underground routes there with “Iranian funding and direction,” with which, over the decades, it threatened Israe’s northern communities. However, the IDF now controls the “key areas above ground” while and these routes are below ground.
In addition, he also charged that the Lebanese army is “required to fulfill its commitment to the historic agreement that was signed [between Israel and Lebanon] and to act to clear the area of Hezbollah terrorists,” and that “In parallel—the IDF will continue to act with determination to remove the threats from Lebanese territory and is prepared to transition to a rapid offensive if the ceasefire is violated.”
