President Herzog Makes Historic Speech Before Romanian Parliament

President Isaac Herzog delivered a historic speech to the Romanian Parliament, thanking leaders for friendship and solidarity with Israel.

Jerusalem, 29 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) — As part of his State Visit to Romania, President Isaac Herzog delivered a historic speech to the Romanian Parliament today, Monday.

Upon his arrival at the Palace of the Parliament, the President of the State met with the President of the Senate, Mircea Avrodian. Later, the President also met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sorin-Mihai Grindeanu, and other senior government officials.

Herzog thanked the leadership of Romania and the Romanian people for the “open and courageous discussion, the friendship, the solidarity, and the standing alongside Israel” and wished, “May we continue together to choose hope, responsibility, and a future of security and peace.”

He also pointed out that Naphtali Herz Imber wrote the first draft of Israel’s national anthem, “The Hope” in Romania.

“Hope is the force that has accompanied the Jewish people through generations—and even in the most difficult moments, it reminded us to keep looking forward, to fight for our security, to act to return all the hostages, women and men, and to aspire to true peace,” said Herzog.
