Jerusalem, 24 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Druze population in Israel numbers approximately 154,369 people (provisional figure) – an increase of more than tenfold since the establishment of the state (14,500 people in 1949). This is according to the figures released by Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.

(The Druze, like Jews, are an Arab people with their own distinct religion. They are a small community that lives almost entirely between Israel, Syria and Jordan. Israeli Druze serve in the Israeli military, unlike most Israeli Arabs.)

At the end of 2024, the localities with the highest number of Druze were Dalit al-Karmel (17,700) and Yarka (16,400).

At the end of 2024, less than a quarter (22.6%) of the Druze population were children aged 0-14. For comparison, in the Jewish population 27.3% are children, in the Muslim population – about a third (31.3%), and in the Arab Christian population – about a fifth (19.6%).

Over the past decade, the growth rate of the Druze population has gradually decreased, and in 2024 it stood at 1%, the same as the rate in the Jewish population.

The total fertility rate per Druze woman in 2024 was 1.66 children on average, compared to 1.75 the previous year. The total fertility rate among Druze women has been on a downward trend since the mid-1960s, when the total fertility rate was estimated at 7.92 (in 1964).

In 2025, there were about 39,000 households in Israel headed by a Druze, about 1.3% of all households in Israel.

84.3% of Druze households were households with employed people, higher than the percentage among Muslims (80.1%) and the percentage among Arab Christians (78.1%).

43.2% of Druze continued their undergraduate studies within eight years of graduating from high school, compared to only 34.4% of all high school graduates in Arab education.
