How CBS groups the population

CBS Independence Day releases describe Israel’s population using Jews and Others, Arabs, and foreigners. CBS defines Arabs as Muslims, Arab Christians, and Druze. CBS defines Others as non-Arab Christians, other religions, and those not classified by religion in the Population Register.

On the eve of Independence Day 2026, CBS reported 10.244 million residents: 7.790 million Jews and Others (76%), 2.157 million Arabs (21.1%), and 296,000 foreigners (2.9%).
