When the defendant noticed three Israelis traveling in a Ranger all-terrain vehicle, he decided to strike the vehicle they were traveling in. The defendant followed the vehicle, and when he identified that it had slowed down near a steep slope, he deliberately and forcefully rammed the rear of the vehicle. As a result of the impact, the vehicle flew and rolled down the cliff. The occupants of the vehicle were thrown out of it, which led to the death of Yehuda Sherman z”l and the injury of another civilian. The indictment attributes to the defendant an offense of intentional causing of death (equivalent to the offense of murder), attempted intentional causing of death of the two other civilians who were traveling in the vehicle, obstruction of legal proceedings, and offenses for possession of a weapon without a permit. Upon the filing of the indictment, the military prosecution petitioned for the defendant’s arrest until the completion of legal proceedings against him. The military court ordered his arrest until further notice, with a hearing on the prosecution’s request for arrest until the completion of proceedings to be held on June 2, 2026. The military prosecution is accompanying the Sherman family, is in continuous contact with them, and grants them all the rights due to them by law. The IDF and the military prosecution share in the deep sorrow of the family.
