Operational activity in various sectors does not halt the preparations for the Shavuot holiday by personnel of the Technology and Logistics Directorate, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Procurement. Even in the heart of the field, service members will receive high-quality, diverse, and festive food provisions.
Ahead of Shavuot 5786, the Technology and Logistics Directorate is preparing to provide optimal support to all bases, outposts, and all forces operating in the field – so that no matter where the combatants and service members are, the holiday spirit will reach them.
As part of the logistical envelope, led by the Central Supply Depot and the Nutrition Administration, festive and diverse food products have been supplied to various units.
Among other items, approximately 84 tons of fish were distributed, alongside about 90 tons of various baked goods. Additionally, complementary carbohydrate and protein products of new types were supplied, including sweet potato and potato chips, fish and chips, shakshuka pastry, and vegetable patties – with the aim of enabling rich, nutritious, and diverse holiday meals both at bases and in the field.
This year, special emphasis is also placed on sweet products: approximately 724,000 dessert units were supplied to various IDF units, including many diverse types of cakes and sweets such as cheesecake, kadaif, and chocolate mousse – as part of the desire to give service members a true holiday feeling even during an intensive operational period.
For maneuvering combat forces, more than 6,000 specialized “pot meal” kits were distributed, designed to bring the holiday meal to the operational edge. The kits include a variety of pastas, sauces, spices, and even cooking pots – so that a festive and complete meal is possible even in the field.
