Haifa-Area Municipalities Cancel Mass Independence Day Gatherings
Nesher, Kiryat Ata, Tirat Carmel, Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Bialik, and Kiryat Yam cancel Independence Day gatherings citing safety concerns.
Jerusalem, 12 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Several Haifa-area communities announced they will not hold Independence Day celebrations in the format of large public events this year.
The communities of Nesher, Kiryat Ata and Tirat Carmel, along with Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Bialik and Kiryat Yam, said the decision was made due to safety considerations following a joint assessment with the Home Front Command and other security agencies.
“The safety and security of the residents are our top priority, and they precede any mass performance or event. We promise to return and celebrate together in full when the security situation allows,” local officials said.
Independence Day begins at sundown on April 21.
