Israel's Ministry of Agriculture confirms an H5N1 bird flu outbreak in a Moshav Nahalal turkey flock, leading to quarantine measures.

Jerusalem, 23 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has confirmed an H5N1 bird flu outbreak in a turkey flock in Moshav Nahalal in the Jezreel Valley, the second avian influenza case this season. Around 8,000 turkeys have been affected, prompting authorities to establish a 10-kilometer quarantine zone restricting poultry movement and enforcing strict biosafety measures.

The Ministry urges owners of backyard, free-range, and ornamental birds to keep them indoors and limit contact with wild birds. The ministry also stressed that meat and eggs should be purchased from regulated sources and thoroughly cooked before consumption to prevent health risks.
