Israel Boosts Water Allocation for Upper Galilee and Golan Agriculture
Israel's Water Authority is increasing water allocation by 36 million cubic meters for farmers in the Upper Galilee and Golan Heights.
Jerusalem, 25 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Water Authority has approved an additional 36 million cubic meters of water for farmers in the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights.
Enabled by expanded desalination and wastewater reuse capacity, the decision allocates 24 million cubic meters to the Upper Galilee, 7 million to the Golan Heights, and 5.7 million to peatland irrigation.
Officials said the measure is intended to support agricultural continuity, strengthen national food security, and address climate change while preserving natural water sources.
