Israel Approves $118 Billion Air Force Buildup

Israel's defense ministry approved a $118 billion, 10-year buildup plan, including new F-35 and F-15 squadrons, to secure air superiority.

Jerusalem, 3 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Ministerial Committee on Procurement approved the Defense Ministry plan to acquire a fourth F-35 squadron from Lockheed Martin and a second F-15IA squadron from Boeing, in deals worth tens of billions of shekels, including full integration and logistics support.

The procurement marks the first step in a decade-long IDF force buildup plan, backed by a NIS 350 billion ($118 billion) budget, aimed at strengthening readiness.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said the move will secure air superiority for decades.
