Israel Police forms a team to liaise with football fans, aiming to reduce stadium violence and ensure fan safety.
Under the direction of the Minister of National Security, MK Itamar Ben-Gvir, and the Inspector General of the Israel Police, Commissioner Danny Levy, and following recent violence incidents in stadiums, it was decided to establish a team headed by a Senior Superintendent. This team will liaise with football fans to improve police work, reach understandings, and prevent tension with football fans. The team will engage in preliminary public outreach, hold meetings and direct dialogue with fans, strengthen ties with club management, and create prevention and dialogue mechanisms with the aim of reducing violence incidents and ensuring a safe sports experience for the general public. The team will be headed by a police officer with the rank of Senior Superintendent, who will coordinate the activity and lead the staff work with all relevant parties. The Minister and the Inspector General agreed to continue holding meetings and monitoring developments on the ground, and emphasized that the Israel Police will act with all the tools at its disposal to maintain the safety of fans and enable a safe sports experience, free from violence.
