Jerusalem, 11 May, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A 30-year-old woman was shot and killed and three other women were injured in a shooting incident in Ramla on Monday morning, in what Israeli Police described as a criminal attack. A suspect, a relative of some of the victims, was arrested shortly after the incident.
Emergency medical teams evacuated the wounded to Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital, where the critically injured woman was pronounced dead.
Initial investigation indicates the attack unfolded in two locations in the city, with gunfire inside a private home and on a nearby street. Two women were found with gunshot wounds inside the house, while another woman was shot while sitting in a vehicle a few hundred meters away. A fourth woman, lightly injured by shrapnel, later arrived at a police station on her own before being evacuated for treatment. All injured are residents of Ramla.
Police initially examined whether the incident had a security or nationalist motive due to the scale and locations of the shooting. Ramla, in central Israel, is a mixed Jewish-Arab city. Police Commissioner Danny Levy subsequently told reporters, “Right now, I can say with absolute certainty that this is a criminal incident.”
“We received several reports of injuries in a violent incident,” said Deputy Director of the Ayalon Region at Magen David Adom paramedic Ofir Shish and EMTs Abed Issawi, Nur Hasuna and Moshe Kot. “We arrived at the scene quickly with intensive care vehicles, ambulances and immediate response motorcycles. A woman about 30 years old suffered a serious injury to her body, she was unconscious with no pulse and no breathing. We performed CPR and evacuated her to the hospital. Two women were conscious and suffered penetrating injuries; we provided initial treatment including stopping the bleeding and evacuated them urgently. Another woman was injured by shrapnel and was evacuated in a minor condition.”
Following the shooting, police launched a large-scale search operation in the areas. The suspect was arrested shortly after and a firearm suspected to have been used in the attack was seized.
